At the Acadiana Lymphatic Center, your Lymphatic Therapist uses a unique combination of gentle manual lymph node drainage techniques aided by several special instrument. The trapped proteins, bits of torn cells, blood leaked from capillaries, etc., from athletes injury are broken down by the The Lymphstar. This noninvasive procedure is faster than manual techniques alone.
To begin a Lymphatic Therapy session, the client athlete lies on a massage table. The therapist begins at the exit points or “terminus” of the Lymphatic System, near the sub-clavian vein at the clavicle. Lymphatic Therapy is essentially a skin treatment — all of the hands-on, LymphStar Pro, BioModulator, BioTransducer, SCENAR, Cold Pulse Laser techniques and Kinesio Taping are applied directly to the skin.
Kinesio Tape is the same tape that was seen on the shoulder of Gold Medalist Volleyball player Kerry Walsh, and many other athletes, at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and other Olympics.
The Kinesio® Taping Method involves taping over and around muscles in order to:
1. Facilitate or assist and give support
2. Inhibit or prevent over-contraction of the
3. Lift to sustain a continual Lymphatic Flow and spacial release with correctional techniques.
The first technique provides support while still maintaining full range of motion. This enables the athlete to participate in his/her normal physical activities with functional assistance.
The second technique, which is most commonly used in the acute stage of rehabilitation, helps prevent overuse or over-contraction of muscles and helps provide a sustained lymph flow for three to five days.
Correctional application include mechanical, lymphatic, ligament/tendon, fascia, space and functional techniques. Kinesio® Taping is an innovative approach to treating nerves, muscles and organs.
Lymphatic Therapy is a whole body approach. After the end point sites are opened, the natural flow of lymph throughout the body is stimulated. The therapist will then work on the target area or systemically with Cold Pulse Lasers or Senergy Medical energetic devices designed to stimulate Lymphatic Flow to help maneuver inflammation from the injured area. The hands-on lymphatic drainage techniques are made up of slow, subtle, gentle sweeping movements, mimicking the rhythmic pumping of the lymphatic fluid through the body. The Lymphatic system is the Highway for the immune system. The Lymphatic Vessels manuever the waste through the lymph nodes to help cleanse the system. This cleansing allows the body the ability to heal within.
